It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Michael J. Herzog on May 16, 2023. We remember Mike and honor the joy and dedication he brought to our team.
Mike worked for over 39 years in site and athletic facility planning and design, bringing his expertise to hundreds of schools, parks, and campuses. Mike personified a hands-on approach to all of his projects and was a superior construction administrator, guiding projects from design through construction. He was a proponent of a collaborative approach with clients, contractors, and fellow designers.
Mike’s enthusiasm for sports was not limited to design and construction of sports facilities. As a longtime coach for the Lansing High School NY baseball team, he brought a “cleats on” perspective to his designs. Mike approached his work, his volunteering, and all his activities with an enthusiastic and hardworking attitude.
A love of the outdoors fostered an avid hiking interest and brought together Mike’s environmental focus as a landscape architect with the joy of being in the natural environment.
