Joe Sporko, RLA, ASLA, Managing Principal of The LA Group, was a featured speaker along with Joe Cairone of Cairone & Kaupp at the recent annual meeting of the Pennsylvania/Delaware Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects in Lancaster, Pa.
The lecture, “Reimaging a National Cemetery” discussed sustainable design principles incorporated into The LA Group’s masterplan and design of the new Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Bucks County, Pa. The new National Cemetery is currently under construction, with completion scheduled for later this year.
This will be the newest in the system of national cemeteries operated by the Department of Veterans Affairs National Cemetery Administration, and will serve Philadelphia area veterans and their families. The project is also the recipient of an Honor Award from the ASLA, the organization’s highest award.
